5 Tips to Help Your Child Thrive After Spring Break: Partnering with Our Phenomenal Teachers

Hello parents! Your child is back in school after a break, and we're excited to have them back in the classroom. Adjusting back to the school routine can be a bit of a challenge, but with your support, we know they will succeed.

Here are some tips to help your child make a smooth transition back to school:

Focus on the positive:

  • Encourage your child to think positively about the school year ahead, and help them see the opportunities and adventures that await them. A positive outlook can go a long way in making the transition back to school easier. One practical way to do this is to refer back to the teacher's weekly newsletter. Those newsletters include links to pictures, cool things they do at school, and fun upcoming events! Use this as a fun conversation resource to talk with your child!

Establish routines:

Routines are an important part of feeling settled and grounded. Help your child establish a consistent sleep schedule, meal and snack times, and time for homework and other responsibilities. This can help them feel more in control and less overwhelmed.

Encourage self-care:

You can empower your child to feel their best and do well in school by emphasizing the importance of self-care. Encourage them to prioritize drinking plenty of water and eating a nutritious lunch so they can stay energized and focused throughout the day. Remind them that taking care of themselves is a positive and proactive step towards achieving their goals and feeling great, both in and out of the classroom.

Stay in touch with teachers:

Our teachers are dedicated to helping your child succeed, and they're here to support them! Stay in touch with them regularly to get updates on your child's progress and any areas where they might need extra help.

Celebrate progress:

Celebrate your child's successes and progress in school. Let them know how proud you are of them and their hard work. This can help boost their confidence and motivation.

We're grateful for your partnership and support in helping your child succeed in school. With your help and our dedicated teachers, we know your child will thrive and achieve great things.

"It takes a village. I’m beyond thankful for the teachers at Hickory Hill Academy who pour into my children with more passion than what’s required in a job. Thank you for making that choice every day and being you! Ms. Emily, he came right home and slapped that note on the fridge with so much pride in his heart!" Parent at HHA
